Description
1740's velvet wrapping gown with fur trim, pattern from Janet Arnold's "Patterns of Fashion.". Wool on wool embroidered stomacher, made in chainstitch after an original at Metropolitan Museum. "Bindemössa", a cap in coloured silk worn by women of all classes except the aristocracy in Sweden in the 18th century. Everything sewn by me.
Makeup made after original 18th century recipes; pearl powder and red paint made with cochenille. Hairstyle made with pomade and white powder, and finished off with yellow hair powder. The earrings are repro from Dames a la Mode:
